Observing Diffusion:
Aim: To observe diffusion in a liquid.
Method: 1. Half fill your petri dish with cold tap water .
2. Place the petri dish on your work bench and allow the water to become settled.
3. Using the tweezers, place a single crystal of potassium in the center of petri dish.
4. Observe for 5 minutes.
5. Repeat the experiment using hot water.
Observation: Basically what we saw was water and die mixed together. It was like if you put food coloring and water and mixed them.
Conclusion; The Solvent which was hot water/ cold water was put into a container that wasn't that deep. by the way we did cold water first then hot water. Then the solute was put into the water either hot or cold. The solute was crystal of potassium after we put the crystal into the cold water. The crystal would slowly dissolve into a purple die looking stuff but it took so long. Then with the hot water the crystal expanded really quick and took less than 2 minutes. So the solution was basically water and die mixed together.
