Chromatography:

Chromatography:

Aim: To separate the difference pigments in inks using paper chromatography.

Method: 1. cut a piece of filtered paper long enough to reach the bottom of your test tube.
2. Rule a line in pencil approximately 2 cm from the bottom of your piece of paper.
3. Fill your beaker with enough chromatography solution to fill your beaker to a depth of 1 cm.
4. Place a dot of ink above the ruled lone on your filtered paper. You need to produce a concentrated dot of ink so repeated applications mat be necessary.
5. Suspend the suspend the strip of paper from the pencil stick. You may need to use adhesive tape to stop it from falling into the solution.
6. Wait to see what happens. It is important that you do not disturb the beaker. If the solution comes in contact with the ink dot, ink will run down into solution, rather than move up the filtered paper.

Result:

Discussion:  When we put the solute which was filtered paper with a ink dot in the solvent which was water. It turned the ink drowned down that made a cool design when you left for a few minutes.

Science:

Aim: To separate a solute from solvent in a solution using evaporation.

Method:
1. Set up the Bunsen burner, tripod and gauze mat. Don't place the Bunsen burner under the tripod.
2. Add approximately 50 ml of hot water to your beaker and place it on top of the tripod, on the gauze mat.
3. add enough copper sulfate solution to quarter fill the evaporating basin.
4. Carefully place the evaporating basin on top on the beaker.
5. Light your Bunsen burner. Open the air hole and gently push the Bunsen Burner under the tripod.
6. Heat the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated and crystals of solute forming.
7. Turn of your Bunsen burner.

Results:
Discussion: We evaporated the Solvent which was water. after we boiled the copper sulfate for like 20 minutes then we sat it out for two days after them 2 days we came back and it turned out to a solute. So the solution was blue copper sulfate crystals.

Drama:

Today in drama we were asked to look on sites and choose which play we would like to speck out. On each play we read like 3 to 2 lines and Mrs will see how good/confident we at acting. I looked at three stories the first story was The Big Bad Wolf it was funny but I think its not for me. The second one was about thoughts it was great but I think it would be hard for me to act. The last one was called Before You Punch Me this was great and I feel like this one is great because its protecting someone.

Distillation-Science

Distillation:

Aim: To separate a solvent in a solution using distillation.

Method: 1. Set up the equipment as shown in the diagram
2. Add approximately 50 ML of coke to your conical flask
3. Light your Bunsen burner. Open the air hole and gently push the Bunsen burner under the tripod.
4. Heat the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated. Turn off your Bunsen Burner
Result : The coke was boiling and we had clear liquid going through and up into the test tube. There was steam going up the tube into the test tube which when cool made it into a clear liquid.

Discussion: We first Boiled/evaporated the solvent which was water which at the end ended up being like tar and sugar as the solute. Then while the coke was Distillation/the steam is rising up the test tube. The test tube was full of the condensed Solution which was a clear liquid substance/water.

English:

English:

In English Normally for the first 10 minutes of the lesson we silently read then blog but for now on. At the start of lessons on Friday's we get to choose what we do and if we are quite enough we may be able to have 5 minutes extra.  So what I have chosen to do is draw little drawings. Why I did I choose drawing? you may ask well normally what I do in my free time is draw or sports and of course I cant do sports. So I'm drawing they are not the best but in ten minutes they pretty good. The things I have drawed there no reason I drawed them I just looked up on google what to draw or drawing ideas.

Drama:

Today Period 3 we watched a play called The Taming If The Shrew. t started off good because they were energetic and funny.

What I like
I really like who they used up all of the space and choose to engage with the audience.
I like how they were realatable with this year generation.
I like how if they didn't get changed well or quick enough they would bring it into the play and act like it was meant to happen.

What I don't Like
I didn't like how they were so loud like I know you have to be loud but in my option they were a but to loud.
I didn't like when they kissed like i don't care but it was a bit gross for me to be honest.

For example it was weird for me because I didn't think they were gonna do it and because it not the normal for me to see to be honest.

Science:Making A Dilution Series

Making A Dilution Series:
Aim: To make a Dilution series to investigate concentration.
Method: 1. Place the six test tubes in a test tube rack. Label the rack with numbers 1-6.

2. using the measuring cylinder. full the test tubes 1 with 10 mL of water. fill the remaining test tubes with 5 ml of water.

3. Using your tweezers, add a single crystal of potassium peregrinate to test tube 1.

4. Gently shake the test tube until the crystal dissolved.

5. using the transfer pipette, carefully remove exactly 5 mL from test tube 1 and pour it into test tube 2.

6. Rinse the transfer pipette thoroughly to ensure that no purple solution remains.

7. gently shake test tube 2 and repeat the transfer process, transfer exactly 5 mL of solution form test tube 2 to test tube 3.

 8. Rinse the pipette again and repeat the transfer process for test tubes 4,5 and 6.

Result: Basically all it really did was make the purple liquid lighter and lighter because we are basically adding water which make it lighter and then after adding more and more it started to look like normal water with a hint of purple.

Discussion:  Solute= Crystals   Solvent= Water  Solution= Each tube changed color  Dilute= Basically each time we poured water into the test tube it changed color to be lighter  Concentrated= More crystals more darker the purple will be.

Basically when you add the solute and solvent together it made it concentrated. when you add more solvent it makes the water and purple color more dilute but when you add more solute to the solvent makes the solution more concentrated
