Athletics Day:

Athletics Day/Training:

The past couple weeks in P.E we have been practicing for Athletics which was this Thursday. Each lesson we would work/practice on one event. I personally thought that Athletics would be boring but now thinking back I actually could say I had a lot of fun. Especially doing Javelin ( this was my first year doing Javelin).

Javelin:  I have just started Javelin so I cant really say i'm a pro but I here to tell you what I have learnt. When you start off you want to learn how to throw the Javelin it doesn't matter how far it goes or if it lands. The Javelin needs to be help by your dominate hand. Then Wrap your fingers around the rope, make sure the Metal point is facing in front of you. When you throw its basically like throwing a base ball. First practice on throwing the javelin and making it make a mark. When you get better slowly start to take a couple of steps back for a run up. But when you throw you need to make sure the javelin isn't facing up into the sky or else it wont go that far or stick good. For Athletics day I did javelin competitively and was able to get 12cm. which was pretty good for my first year.

Shot put: For shot put you need to put your hand without a shot put in it and work on your action. Then once you have perfected that you need to  do it with a shot put ball. When you throw you need to bend your knees and slowly drive yourself up. For athletics day I was able to get 4.5cm which was my best for far.

Long jump: The way you run up in long jump is you slowly run up at the start then getting faster by the end when your about to jump. When you jump you want to swing your arms up as you jump.

Discuss: When you throw a discuss you want to make sure your fingers are wrapped around the discuss. You then swing, bend your knees and let go. I wasn't able to find out my result but I did pretty good.

400M: When I was doing the 400M it was just my luck, there was a stick on the field and I rolled my ankle. But I pushed through and was able to come second which was pretty good.

Athletics Training:

So today for P.E we were still preparing for athletics which is next week, Thursday. The events we did were shot put, sprints, and javelin. In our group was Aiden, Alesha, Alex, Kayla, Ian, and Rojan. We decided that our group goal was to have fun and support one another without being rude. The skills involved for shotput was how you were going to throw the shotput and how your posture is. After we moved to sprints/javelin the skills for spirits that were needed were how to start off (starting position) and the skills for javelin were how you throw it and the way your wrist goes after you have thrown it. Where to next is just doing the activities we need to work on for next week we all think this is going well so far and to take measurements so we can record results.

P.E

P.E:

Today in P.e we practice on our long jump and shot put. For me since I'm doing competitive for Athletics this period I have been learning the right way to throw a Shot put and practice long jump. The right way to throw a shot put when your in the circle you need to step two steps back. Ending with your dominate leg at the back once you have done that put you shot put up to your chin. Then when your ready you take two step forward but take side steps. and twist your  back leg and hips to the front and then through make sure not to walk out of the circle from the fronts. With long jump you need to step 21 steps back from the pit then when your ready run up to the line and jump but make sure you hands don't go behind you.

P.E

Fosbury flop:  Was invented by Dick Fosbury in 1968.

Fosbury flop is where you run up to the bar and turn on ur non-jumping foot then jump on your back with your legs and hand straight up in the air.  the way to figure out your jumping foot is when you step foward what foot do you put out first the determines what foot you use.

Starting poes for sprinting:

When you line up to the sprint track walk 2 and a half steps backwards and kneel to where your front foot is a little bit in front of you knee. When the leader says get set you put your bottom to the air above your head and when they say go you need to push off you front foot.
