Government:

Government:

Government is a group of people that make country's controlled and not insane. This means they take charge and make laws to keep is safe and alive. For example gum rules, here in New Zealand  we arrant allowed guns for safety reasons. This shows we are lucky to have a government the world would be horrific.

Conerving:

Aim: To observe convection in a liquid.

Method:

1. set up the Bunsen Burner on a heatproof mat. Put the guaze mat on the tripod but leave it just to on side of the Bunsen Burner.

2. Fill a 200ml beaker with 150ml cold water.

3. Place the beaker on top of the tripod and gauze and allow it to settle for a few minutes.

4. Carefully insert a drinking straw down one side of the beaker. ensuring the straw is touching the bottom of the beaker. Be careful as you do not want to disturb the water too much.

5. Using tweezers, drop a crystal of potassium permanganate down the inside of the straw. wait for the crystal to settle on the bottom of the beaker.

6. Very gently, so to no disturb the water, remove the straw.

7. Light the Bunsen and slide it under the tripod so that you are the only heating the outside

Discussion: The hot purple water rises up to the top because it is less dense. And the purple rised up and looked really cool.

Particle Theory Of Matter:

The Dropping Pins Experiment:

Aim: To Observe Conducting along a metal rod.

Method:
 1. Set up and light a Bunsen burner.
2. smear a small amount of petroleum jelly  on to the head of each drawing pin.
3. Attach the drawing pins at even intervals along the length of the metal rod.
4. Clamps one end of the metal rod to a retort stand.
5. Position the retort stand so the unclamped end of the metal rod is in the Bunsen burner.
6. Record the time it takes for each pin to drop in the table below

These are the results

Discussion: When we heated one side of the metal it started vibrating along the ling of pins. The Vibrating was coming from the strong particals that are along the line of pins. Which transferred all the way to the end which made all of the pins fall down.

Art

Art: In art we have been learning a whole lot of stuff like under painting and other things. For our drawing we were told to make something with anime and cultural patterns. This is a good idea for our developing artwork because its not basic like a normal eye ball.

The colors I have chosen are great because all my colors are great to blend together. All my colors I have used both blend and look great together.

First we under painted it with yellow and blue. Yellow is for light colors and Blue is for dark colors. Then we started painting over the blue and yellow and after like 2 or 3 days of concentrating I finished.

English:

English: In English we were told to make a piktochart on 5 things we have learnt in English and the definitions of 8 different words. During the term I have learnt a lot of things like how to identify whats a real statement/story and whats fake. We have also learnt not to believe everything you see/hear on tv. Here ya go :)

My Piktochart

Click the link and there's my piktochart if the link doesn't work then let me know so I can fix it start away.

Observing Diffusion:

Observing Diffusion:

Aim: To observe diffusion in a liquid.

Method:    1. Half fill your petri dish with cold tap water .

2. Place the petri dish on your work bench and allow the water to become settled.

3. Using the tweezers, place a single crystal of potassium in the center of petri dish.

4. Observe for 5 minutes.

5. Repeat the experiment using hot water.

Observation: Basically what we saw was water and die mixed together. It was like if you put food coloring  and water and mixed them.

Conclusion; The Solvent which was hot water/ cold water was put into a container that wasn't that deep. by the way we did cold water first then hot water. Then the solute was put into the water either hot or cold. The solute was crystal of potassium after we put the crystal into the cold water. The crystal would slowly dissolve into a purple die looking stuff but it took so long. Then with the hot water the crystal expanded really quick and took less than 2 minutes. So the solution was basically water and die mixed together.

Math's: What We Have Been Doing:

In Math's we have been learning about different things we were told to make a blog post of what we have been doing. I'm going to be talking bout two things we have been learning this year. first problem:

It’s 5km from Jordan’s whare to where his Koro lives. It’s uphill on the way there so he can only cycle at 10kph but he can do 20kph on the way back.Jordan leaves his whare at 6pm. How long can he stop at his Koro’s whare if he wants to be back home for his favourite TV programme at 7pm?

If he was going 10kph and his Koro lives 5km away then it would take him 30 mins to get there. He will be able to stay there for 15 mins because he will be able to go twice as fast. On the way back and it will take him 15 mins. so it would take him 30 mins to get there 15 mins watching TV 15 mins on the way back which end up being a total of 1 hour.

Second Problem We Have Been Learning:

Louise just purchased a penny-farthing bicycle. She wants to take it on a 3 kilometre ride. The front wheel on the penny-farthing bicycle has a Diameter of 70 cm. The back wheel on the cycle has a 15 cm diameter. Would the large or the small tyre get more wear and tear on a long journey?
In this one we thought logically because if you think about the smaller wheel will be taking more weight and will be harder than the big wheel. The big wheel is at the front which there's no as much weight then the back and the small wheel on any bike would take more wear in tear depending on what age/weight the best is. Like for example when your young you don't have as much weight compared to a 30 year old. So logically the small tyer will take more wear and tear.
